90 ports

The openjdk ports use the following naming convention:

The openjdk6-boot, openjdk7-boot, and openjdk8-boot ports are designed to provide bootstrap jdks for building other openjdk ports and some java packages. The resultant packages are stripped of most of the configuration and administration files. Use of the boot jdk’s as a full jdk is neither supported nor recommended.

The openjdk7 and openjdk8 ports are designed to be used as full jdks. These no longer depend on the bootstrap ports that the *-boot ports depend on. This way, a full openjdk can be installed without having to jump through the hoops of bootstrapping from java-init to openjdk6-boot to openjdk7-boot to openjdk8-boot to openjdk8, etc. Both openjdk7 and openjdk8 ports use a prebuilt openjdk-boot pkg for building.

I am continuing to maintain the gcj-jdk port via gcc6 and gcj6-jdk. Starting with the gcc 7 release, java support (gcj) has been removed from gcc. It is my intention to keep these ports around; at the very least, as a reference. I am considering combining these two ports, to shorten build times, since gcc and g++ get built in both ports, which seems excessive and redundant. While gcj6-jdk is not currently being used for bootstrapping the openjdk ports, it should be capable of being dropped in to the bootstrap process should that be desired or required, with small effort. Currently, the java-init port is being used as the initial java bootstrapper, which is the bootstrap jdk for openjdk6-boot.

I have added the openjdk8-headless port. I concider the headless port to be in alpha state because it has not yet received any testing. Buyer beware, and all that, so be careful about using it on a production server. At this point I do not recommend using it on a production server until it has seen some reasonable amount of testing. If you give it a try, I would really appreciate any feedback; I have limited time to do the testing myself at the moment, so any bug reports, suggestions, or feedback would be a huge help.

For ports that have been retired, I sometimes place these in one or other of my (technically) unpublished repos:

I have no qualms with these being used, but bear in mind that the old repo ports will not be updated and the forks repo ports are intended for my own uses and may clash with other ports.
